WordPress is a content management system (CMS) that is used to create websites. A CMS is basically an application that enables one to create, edit, organize, and publish content.
It is very easy to get started and use WordPress, as one does not necessarily need to learn any programming language before creating websites. All you do is write your content in plain English, include images, audio and videos, and WordPress does the rest for you.
WordPress also has a vast library of website templates and features that can be used to customized website. It is a very versatile CMS and can be used to build a variety of websites; from blogs to news to music to business to e-commerce and portfolio websites.
WordPress is also the most popular CMS for websites, powering an estimated 33% of all websites globally, as at January 2019. Some of the most popular websites being those for; CNN, Fortune and Time Magazines, MTV News, Facebook Newsroom, Mercedes Benz, Usain Bolt, Beyonce and Angry Birds.
